CHAMBERS, EPHRAIM Cyclopædia: or, An Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences containing an explication of the terms, and an account of the things signified thereby, in the several arts, both liberal and mechanical; and the several sciences, human and divine...Third edition. Dublin Printed 1740. Four folio volumes 15" 3/4 by 9"7/8 (400 x 253 mm) each volume around 1"3/4 (450 mm) thick. Unpaginated. The four volumes contain eighteen engraved fold-out plates. Original full leather binding and on each volume the etched armorial bookplates of the Colonel Vessey. The volume 1 and 2 have the first page or endpaper with a hole in the middle We think that is the bookplates which are glued on the page. Volume 1 the edge of architectural etching is cutting and torn on 4? (10cm) but the etching is complete. All the books have a few rust stains but not on all pages. The volume 1 has more stains included a wax stain. We don?t see pages missing and it is 19 etching numbered to 18.The paper is very well preserved.

Troisième Édition imprimé à Dublin en 1740. Les deux volumes sont reliés en quatre livres de 4.5cm d'épaisseur chacun in folio, format 40cm x 25.5cm. Les quatre volumes contiennent 18 planches gravés dépliables. Reliure à dos cousue d'époque en cuir et sur chaque volume l'ex libris gravé à l'eau-forte du Colonel Vesey recouvrant celui de l'ancien propriétaire. Ils sont dans l'état.
